The brief was to bestow an element of open-plan living into this previously closed off penthouse. To improve the spatial layout and let in the abundant natural light, the design connected the sociable areas of the residence and created a new seamless space.
After securing planning permission to significantly alter the layout of the penthouse, the 9 month design and build programme saw the implementation of a new layout connecting the lounge to the kitchen and removing the dining area. The changes in layout also enabled a cloakroom to be added to the floor plan.
Underfloor heating and new wood and carpet flooring were also incorporated throughout the property, as was a new lighting design to bring a warm glow to the home.
The residence as a whole underwent dramatic changes, with the ceilings and doorways being raised to maximise volume in the space.
